| The four friends gathered each week on the lush grass next to the river under the group of weeping willows. Whether it be a dark and serious poem or poetry light and airy, the group enjoyed listening to each other’s contributions and perspective. Sometimes after a reading there was silence and meditation. Other times there was deep discussion about the meaning or intent of the author. Once in a while, one of the four would offer up an original poem. Those moments were the most meaningful, because they came from the heart. The others’ praise could bring joy to the author. Criticism could bring hurt feelings, even when well intended. Today’s poem was about spring showers and the need for the occasional storms in life necessary to cause growth. As the gentle breezes began to stir into small gusts of wind and the dark clouds began their creeping up from the south, the group quieted and enjoyed the moment. Good friends, good times. | |||||||||||||
